Take a trip to the bluebell woods this weekend

British Summer Time has officially begun, so it's time to get out into the great outdoors. The first bluebells are beginning to appear, so why not combine a walk or a cycle in Wyre Forest this weekend with a hunt for these beautiful native flowers?

Don't forget to take a camera to capture the magic of the blue floral carpets. Those in the Kidderminster area in the Midlands are spoilt for choice when it comes to all the activities on offer in this great Forestry Commission amenity.

Easily accessible from Bewdley or Stourport and all the surrounding villages, families can treat the kids to a stint on the Go Ape high ropes course, or simply pack a picnic and enjoy the fresh air. If you book ahead, there are a wide range of craft and wildlife courses to discover - keep an eye out for special events which, in the past, have included fairy tale trails and fungal forays. This part of Worcestershire is full of lovely countryside and other forests nearby include Shrawley Wood and Hawkbatch Wood.

After a busy day out in the gorgeous surroundings of one of England's largest remaining ancient woodlands, why not keep the holiday atmosphere going by having a BBQ when you get home? The kids won't be back at school for another week, and they always love an outdoor feast. Just remember to pick up some kindling and charcoal on your way home, and you'll soon have a great fire going. A simple meal of sausages or burgers will satisfy all appetites.

Purchase a netted bag of logs from us to keep the fuel going for longer, and you can sit out under the stars and toast some marshmallows. Life's simple pleasures don't come much better and the memories will last a lifetime. Enjoy the weekend!
