It's time to be outdoors

Gazing up at the stars, huddled comfortably around a large fire pit, is a great way to spend time outdoors during these warmer and lighter evenings during June, July and August. The trend for fire pits is one that has remained over the last few years in the UK and we can't think of a better way to stay warm outdoors and enjoy the summer evenings. It also connects your home and garden in a way that allows you to make the most of your outdoor space, even after the sun has set.

If you can tear your kids (of all ages!) away from the TV, iPad or laptop screen and get them out of the house, here are some must-do activities to experience together this summer:

• Build a wood or charcoal fire together (with the kids under careful adult supervision)
• Toast marshmallows on the open fire you've created together
• Watch out for shooting stars and constellations under the night sky
• Go camping - this can be so much fun, whether it's a far-flung adventure or a tent for the kids in the garden!
• Create a treasure hunt in the garden, or in a friend or relative's outdoor space

Fire pits and barbecues can be a great focal point for family gatherings, in the daytime and evening, and they offer a great excuse to be in the garden. As we're finally starting to feel this year's barbecue weather in the Midlands (between the inevitable British showers!) we expect demand for our logs, kindling and fuel around Bewdley, Stourport, Wyre Forest and Kidderminster to rise as the hot weather continues. So now's a good time to stock up and get ready to make the most of your garden with your family this summer.
